The fact of the matter is that it gives a foundation to your accomplishments and achievements . You might be astonished at what number of individuals read about your activity and work history.

In continue profession rundown models it is useful to make it as point by point as could reasonably be expected. Why Every Female Executive Should be Over 40 Childless - Workology

Why Every Female Executive Should be Over 40 Childless - Workology Can a Female Balance Being Pregnant and a CEO? Earlier this week NextGens blog went viral with an article from a 2012 recent grad who stated, that every social media manager should be under 25. I read the blog. It was ridiculous. I got angry, and then I had a moment of clarity. The author is young, inexperienced, and clearly lacking the bigger picture of the history of the Internet, but more importantly how limited our point of view can be without walking a mile in someones shoes. This is not unlike manys view on the newly appointed 37 year old CEO, Marissa Mayer who happens to be expecting a child early next year. Catherine Sloan, the author of the NextGen article, sounds exactly the same as much of the medias opinion and impression of working mothers. Seriously, Im sick to death of it. Im rooting for Marissa, and as a once new mother to a now almost 4 year old daughter, I had no idea what I was in for. But Marissa has something I do not, the experience as she is 7 years older than me when I had my daughter. She also has other things I did not like support from her board of directors and the financial means to hire the staff and nannies to care for her child. So instead, the media makes hasty opinions and statements without all the facts. Possibly with the goal of creating a contrary point of view to drive numbers, website traffic, going viral. Or maybe its something else. . . just plain old fashioned dumbassery. I hope for the former, but I have a hunch its the latter. This goes for the NextGen article as well. Can a Female Balance Being Pregnant and a CEO? When the news media criticizes Yahoos decision to hire a pregnant CEO, I take it personally because I was faced with my own pregnancy and motherhood discrimination so to speak. At age 30 and just a few weeks before my maternity leave was scheduled to begin my boss took me aside and asked me about my little bambino as he liked to call her. My manager who was male, unmarried, and in his 50s stated what he believed was an important advice that I could not be a mother and continue to work. In fact, he suggested I take my maternity leave and not return back to work whatsoever. The idea had never crossed my mind. Its managers like my boss and the media that fuel the point of view that every female executive should be over 40 and childless to be successful. Well, we cant all be like Oprah. Thank God! The Female and Woman Midlife Crisis at 30 Theres a battle going on with women and for many its an internal battle we face. Some call it the Midlife Crisis where woman between the ages of 27-35 begin to re-evaluate their lives. These women have put their personal lives, family, and passions on hold to prove to the masses that women can do it all meaning achieve their personal and professional dreams flawlessly dressed and with a smile on their face. Except it doesnt always work out this way with women realizing around 30 that their biological clock is ticking and that personal happiness and professional success dont always mean the same thing. Interestingly enough, psychologists are also saying that men experience a similar although not exactly the same phenomenon. The anxiety of life and goals are weighing on their minds. At the moment, Im halfway through a most interesting book called Midlife Crisis at 30 (affiliate link) which discusses how women are coping with their life fairytale unraveling differently than they had planned, and how women like Marissa and also myself are re-evaluating and making changes in their lives. Can Women Have It All? So I applaud Marissa and other strong women for taking charge of what matters by taking a step back and realizing that we (women) and our dreams cant wait. We can work toward a plan to have it all. I wish Marissa the best success because what she is hoping to do will help the next female generations and a host of bad managers realize that there is more to this world than money and success if you dont have happiness and someone to share that success with. And its okay that woman want that too.

Interview Q How Do You Deal with Stress and Pressure

Interview Q How Do You Deal with Stress and Pressure Our everyday lives are full of stress. Stress comes in many forms, and can be found at your workplace and your home. While we all experience stress, how you deal with it is what really sets you apart. Someone who is cool under fire is a huge asset in almost any situation. This is also why its a popular topic for interview questions. Under Pressure To begin to answer this question, you have to understand stress. Many people believe stress is only a negative force. While stress is commonly negative, it can also be positive. Bad stress is stress that stems from anything without urgency or serious importance, like forces out of your control. Good stress is best described as a motivator. It also usually ties into productivity. If you stress about a deadline, it motivates you to complete the task on time. Some people get overwhelmed by good stress. This is the kind of person you dont want working for you. Interviewers are looking for someone who is calm, cool, and collected under pressure. They also want to know how you manage your stress. While you may not actively realize how you manage it, we all do. A great example mentioned previously is time sensitive stress. In this case, having a good time management system is helpful. If you keep a calendar, or utilize reminders, youll stay on track. Any way in which you cut down on your stress is a good point to bring up in an interview. The Test of Stress Another great tactic is to bring up a specific story that addresses you dealing with a stressful situation. In an interview, telling a story has many advantages, and this is a great opportunity to do exactly that. Think of a time that you were extremely stressed, and still achieved success. Its also important that the stress factors present in your example are external. Dont bring up a time you put off a deadline sensitive assignment and scrambled to get it done last minute. This will clearly make you look bad. For example, if you recently took on many new responsibilities in a role or got a promotion, that would be a great example. You could then discuss how you systematically figured out a new system to stay on top of things. If youre able to do something well that most workers stress about, thats also a great point to make. To close, you can always mention how you deal with stress outside the workplace. If you like to run, hike, workout, or watch a movie to de-stress it can be a great way to close your answer and show that you are well rounded. Just keep in mind the overall feeling of the interview (professional vs. casual) should determine if this is a good way to finish your answer. Stress is something that can easily sneak up on you. Knowing how to deal with stress and overcome it before it overwhelms you is a great talent that any company would like their employee to have. Follow the above advice and youll be a stress expert, ready to tackle any related question.
